AS SEEN IN: KRISTINA & BARRETT’S WEDDING AT MARTHA STEWART’S FARM
I have always been a huge Martha Stewart fan. I am the girl that has every issue of Martha Stewartand Martha Stewart Weddings saved. In fact, those magazines moved with us each time that we did, and each time my husband threatened to throw them away. (PS- I still have them…) So, when I was presented with the opportunity to provide day of wedding dressing and styling services for Martha Stewart’s niece Kristina and her bridal party on Martha’s farm in Bedford, NY, I was over the moon!
I first met Kristina when she came into my boutique to shop for her gown. She showed me a photo of an Alon Livne gown that she found at Mark Ingram. I took one look at her in that gown and told her that I would love nothing more than to sell her a wedding gown, but that she needed to look no further! That was the perfect wedding dress for her! I was able to outfit Kristina with a bridal shower and rehearsal dinner dress from The White Dress by the shore and my talented seamstress also customized a mother of the bride dress for Kristina’s mom, Rita.
Everything about the day was perfection. The weather, the venue, the horses, and of course, the talented team of vendors involved. After dressing the bride, her mom and the bridal party, the Martha Stewart Weddings team (they were on hand to shoot for the magazine), photographer Charlotte Jenks Lewis and I accompanied Kristina to the a sunken garden outside of Martha’s perfectly appointed home for bridal portraits. From there we traveled to one of the horse paddocks for the first look. Kristina is an equestrian, so it was important for her to have horses involved in her pictures.
The ceremony took place outside of Martha’s glorious stables. Afterwards, guests walked down a boxwood lined lane to the reception which was held in a barn that was transformed by the talented team from The Nouveau Romantics.
From a personal and professional perspective, this was such a special experience from me. The absolute icing on the cake came when I received this thank you from the bride:
“Dear Beth, Thank you for all of your help getting me and my Mom geared up and gorgeous for my wedding! From dress shopping, to the alterations, to the day of dressing/styling service, you were there every step of the way, making the entire process so enjoyable and stress-free! You are so incredibly talented and such a joy to spend time with. My bridesmaids are in love with you and were so upset when you left for the night. I don’t know what we would have done without you there with your emergency kit and “fairy dust”. Thanks for making our day so magical. You are a real-life fairy godmother!”
This one surely is going to be tough to top!
