CLASSIC FALL WEDDING AT THE CHATHAM BARS INN

It is such a treat for me when I provide both bridal styling services and day of wedding dressing services for a client.  It allows me to be able to carry the vision for the wedding into the bridal fashion and see it through to execution on the wedding day.

I was able to do just that for Emily, her mother, her financé, and bridal party for their Fall Wedding at Chatham Bars Inn.

Emily and I clicked immediately, as her wedding aesthetic was timeless and classic, my favorite…she had me at chinoiserie and blue hydrangeas!

Emily first contracted me as she began the shopping journey for her wedding dress in Boston.  We met just days before her first bridal appointment at
L’Elite on Newbury Street. After learning about her vision for her wedding, I had a strong feeling that she was a Monique Lhullier bride and it just so happened that L’Elite was having a trunk show with Monique’s latest collection.  I suggested several styles for Emily to try, including the Magnificent Gown…and sure enough, that was the one!  She found her gown at the first bridal appointment!

As it was a Fall wedding on the Cape and the ceremony was planned to take place outdoors,  Emily had a vision for a lace jacket to wear over her gown.  The matching lace jacket to the gown was too much for Emily’s petite frame, so we worked with the genius alterations team at L’Elite to create a custom lace jacket out of the matching lace of the gown.

To emulate Emily’s classic wedding style, we worked with
Valentino Tailors to create a classic black tux for Ron, Emily’s fiance.

For the bridal party I helped Emily select mix and match bridesmaids from Jenny Yoo in the perfect shade of navy - not too dark and not too bright!

Finally, it was Emily’s beautiful Mom’s turn to select her attire.  We searched for months to find the perfect look. I found just that when visiting New York Bridal Fashion week. I saw a look on designer Anne Barge’s Black Label runway and I knew it was just perfect!  I hand carried it back from New York for Sharon to try and with some minor customizations, we knew it was “the one”!

When it was time to select Emily’s fashion for the wedding related looks, we set out to keep her options classic, but fashionable.

For the rehearsal dinner, Emily wore an Emilia Wickstead strapless sheath printed with hydrangeas- what could be more perfect?!  Emily paired the look with Manolo Blahnik’s classic blue satin pumps.

For the reception, Emily changed into a satin back crepe tie neck halter that was easy to dance the night away in.  Late night, she changed into a sparkly
Cult Gaia fringe mini, which really set the tone for the after party!

The weather on the wedding weekend was perfect! We had crossed our fingers and toes that the ceremony would be able to be outdoors as Emily had envisioned and were so thankful that it would be possible.

I love nothing more than being there on my bride’s wedding day to not only ensure that their fashion is flawless, but to ensure that their vision is executed and that they are confident and comfortable, so that they can relax and enjoy their day.

That being said, after steaming Emily, her Mom’s and bridal party’s dresses and ensuring that they were perfect for dressing, I had to pass the baton to my stylist/dresser Lauren.

You see, it was a Saturday in November…and that means football season. I was fortunate that my son’s team, the Columbia Lions, were playing at Harvard that Saturday. It allowed me to arrive on Friday to press Ron’s shirt and steam his tux for the wedding and steam all of the rehearsal dinner attire.  On Saturday morning, I steamed all of the bridal party’s wedding fashion and Emily’s gown….. and then it was time to go!

My family and football mother duties called…but I was so honored and pleased that I could be there the morning of the wedding to see how all of our work had culminated into not only beautiful fashion, but beautiful happy people.

My brides are like family to me…and this family in particular was just that.  But, my actual family has to come first and I am forever grateful that the Purtill family understood and embraced this. I am also grateful to Lauren who gracefully accepted the hand off and helped Emily on her very special day.

Scroll to the bottom to see my son’s face when he saw that I had made it to the game! And the best part…they won!

Thank you so much to Emily and Ron for allowing our day of the wedding bridal dressing team to play a part in your beautiful day. It was our pleasure to help you and your families get ready for your big wedding day!
