I adore everything about this shoot! The color palate (I can never resist pink…or gold for that matter), the hand-painted gown and the incredible talents that I got to collaborate with!
The source of inspiration for the entire shoot was the hand-painted wedding gown by Kate McDonald. Last fall, I visited Charleston, South Carolina to see Kate’s newest collection of wedding gowns and Lula Kate bridesmaid dresses. When I walked up the stairs to her charming second floor studio, I saw this gown on display and instantly knew that it had to be shot! For some time, my friend, fabulous photographer, Kat Harris, and I had been wanting to create a seaside, preppy styled shoot that was slightly unexpected. When I saw this gown, a lightbulb went off and the entire story came together in my mind!
The shoot took place in the charming, sleepy, seaside town of Stonington, Connecticut. In styling the fashion, it was such fun to mix the watercolor of the floral with the gold metallic stripe of the Lula Kate maids dresses and inject a pop of turquoise thorough the accessories. I always tend to say this after a shoot, but truly, this is one of my favorites of all time! I hope you agree!
