NEW WEDDING DRESS & BRIDAL FASHION TRENDS

If you’re getting married and shopping for your dream wedding dress, you’ll want to pay close attention. I’m sharing the new wedding dress trends that brides will soon be trying on in bridal stores and wearing for their wedding day! As a bridal stylist, I traveled to New York for this year’s Bridal Market wedding fashion shows and these are my wedding fashion predictions and trends.

Bridal Market and New York Bridal Fashion Week is the time of year when all of the wedding dress and bridal accessory designers show off their new wedding designs and collections. Bridal stylists and wedding dress shop owners come to Bridal Market to preview the new wedding dress styles and place orders for bridal gowns to feature in their shops.

Brides will see these new wedding fashion trends walking down the aisles for weddings in 2023 and beyond. If you want to shop any of these new wedding dress trends for your big day, the new wedding gowns and collections will begin to be delivered to bridal dress stores around August, but many of these wedding trends are already represented in bridal dress boutiques!

This year’s New York for Bridal Fashion Week and Bridal Market did not disappoint! The wedding dress designers were incredible, creative, and gorgeous. Here is a recap of the new bridal fashion designs and wedding dress collections that were on showcase in New York that brides can expect to see in bridal shops.

Wedding Fashion Trend #1:  Pearls

The first wedding fashion trend that we spotted were pearls, pearls, and pearls! Pearls are about as classic as it gets when it comes to bridal fashion. From pearls on wedding gowns to pearls on bridal accessories, pearls are popping up everywhere in bridal fashion!

At this year’s Bridal Market, we saw pearls in just about every collection on the wedding dresses from the train to the bodice to neckline, pearls down the back of the bridal dresses, pearls on the bridal gown sleeves, and, of course, we saw pearls encrusted bridal veils and gloves.

Here are our favorite new pearl wedding dresses and bridal accessories with pearls…

Wedding Fashion Trend #2:  Gloves & Detachable Sleeves

If you want to cover your arms or have an outfit change on your wedding day, brides will love the newest wedding trend that we saw at this year’s Bridal Market:  bridal gloves and detachable or removable sleeves for wedding dresses.

While long sleeves and gloves are not new, per say, in wedding fashion, they are making a strong come back! The removable trend for long sleeves gives brides a chance to switch up their look on the wedding day. What’s not to love?!

Detachable bridal dress sleeves were showcased in many different styles from illusion lace to sparkle and shimmering to tulle with puffs and ruffles. With detachable sleeves, brides can remove their sleeves after the ceremony, and have a completely different look for the reception and dancing. We love a 2-in-1 wedding dress!

At Bridal Market, many wedding dress designers featured gauntlet and detachable sleeves as glove alternatives for their wedding dress designs. Gauntlet sleeves are long sleeves that do not cover the fingers. Gauntlet or fingerless gloves on a wedding dress provide arm coverage, which many brides love, but without finger coverings, which makes it easier for the wedding ring exchange during the ceremony.

Here are our favorite wedding dresses with detachable sleeves and gloves from this year’s Bridal Market…

Wedding Fashion Trend #3:  Bows

It’s no secret at all that we have a “thing” for bows around here. Our classic and timeless bridal style hearts love a bow moment on the wedding day. Who are we kidding, we love a bow moment every day too!

Bows are the bridal detail that we love the most! (Not that we’re playing favorites with any wedding fashion detail, of course!)

Suffice it to say that we were thrilled to see bows all over the wedding fashion runways. Bows of all kinds, shapes, and sizes were a key trend in this year’s Bridal Market. From big and oversized to sparkly to small and subtle, bows were represented in many of the wedding dress designer’s collections….both in the back and front of the gowns!

Wedding Fashion Trend #4:  Feathers & Fringe

A new fun wedding dress detail that emerged at this year’s Bridal Market were feathers and fringe. And we are here for the feather and fringe on brides, for sure!

Feather and fringe were featured in many new wedding dress styles as these fun and flirty details provide incredible movement and texture to a wedding gown. Walking down the aisle and on the reception dance floor, fringe and feather details are both stylish choices for wedding dresses. And don’t forget, the wedding’s after-party loves a bride in a feather and fringe wedding dress moment too!

Wedding Fashion Trend #5:  Little White Dresses

It is such an exciting time for brides and fashion! There are so many wedding outfit options for second looks where the bride changes her wedding outfit at some point during the wedding day.

One of the best ways for the bride to change her look on her wedding day is with a little white dress and these gorgeous little dresses were trending on the runways and all over this year’s Bridal Market.

Brides are opting to switch their bridal outfits on the wedding day and change into a different wedding look for a wedding reception dress, an after-party bridal dress, or both!

We should note here that the wedding fashion trend of feather and fringe often times was combined with the little white dresses too!

Little white dresses are also a perfect choice for the bride for all of her other wedding adjacent events, such as a bridal shower dress, rehearsal dinner dress, engagement party, and even a bachelorette party dress.

Brides shouldn’t pass up a chance to wear fun little white dresses and luckily when you’re engaged and planning a wedding, there are many opportunities for an LWD moment!
